“High quality advising has long been a hallmark of Excelsior College,” said President John Ebersole. “We expect it. Our students deserve it. It’s terrific that an organization such as NACADA recognizes this commitment, and is honoring three of our best in this way.”

Both DerGurahian and Duprey work in Excelsior College’s School of Nursing. DerGuarhian, director of advisement and evaluation, was selected as Winner of the Outstanding Advising Award – Academic Advising Administrator. Duprey, senior academic advisor, will receive a Certificate of Merit in the Outstanding Advising Award – Primary Advising Role category. Dr. Mary Lee Pollard, dean of nursing said, “The fact that NACADA has named two award winners from the School of Nursing confirms our commitment to providing exemplary academic advising.”

Chris Johnson, military academic advisor, was also selected for a 2014 Certificate of Merit Award as a NACADA Outstanding New Advisor in the Primary Advising category. Susan Dewan, executive director of Excelsior’s Center for Military Education said, “Chris’s outstanding advising support for our military and veteran students has had a positive impact on student success.”

All three individuals will be honored at an award presentation in Minneapolis, MN during the NACADA Annual Conference this fall.
