Excelsior College Patriot Poll Explores Use of Veteran Education Benefits

According to a new Patriot Poll released this week by the Excelsior College, just 35 percent of veterans who have used, currently use or plan to use their Post 9/11 Veteran Education Benefit, will use them solely on themselves. This was among a host of surprising findings among the nationwide survey of more than 460 active duty military personnel and 404 veterans conducted between July 15 and August 15 of this summer.

The Patriot Poll looked at several key areas, including social media and technology use, education and employment, and use of education benefits.

Military Times has an exclusive first-look at the survey’s findings, including reaction from the Student Veterans of America and other veteran-focused organizations. Excelsior Life will publish additional findings and analysis over the coming weeks.

This is the second Patriot Poll conducted by Excelsior College, which is home to more than 10,000 active duty military personnel and 4,000 veterans.
